The patch notes for both software updates say simply, " Install this software to take advantage of your Magic Mouse special features."
It had been thought that the device would be dependent on Mac OS X 10.6.2, but today's updates mean that users can buy and use the Magic Mouse with current versions of both operating systems as soon as it is available as a standalone purchase. Apple released software updates that enable Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard and Mac OS X 10.6.1 Snow Leopard to take advantage of the new Magic Mouse in all its glory.
